Orchard Pigs

I don't think I ever mentioned that our little pet pigs live in an old orchard, this is the view from their pig houses at the moment.

(More on pig houses to follow shortly)

Pig Housing

There are lots of different types of pig houses on the market, wooden pig arks,

Having looked at some of the houses we decided to build our own using recyled materials, this decision was partly influenced by the offer of as much corrugated iron, wood and as many pallets as we required for free.

As you can see from these photograhs we had quite a bit to choose from!

So our next post will be about the building of our pig houses and pens but we can't leave without a gratuitous pig pic of Lucy & Bertie.

Hipstamatic Pigs - Hugo and Florence

Hugo and Florence the kune kune pigs posing for the camera
Actually Florence seems a lot keener on having her photograph taken than Hugo.

Florence and Hugo a Kune Kune Romance

Er what's Florence doing in Hugo's pen?
She isn't supposed to be with him, she is much too little.

What is she up to?
Just having a chat.
How did she get there?
Oh dear, looks like our Florence is a little tunneller.

Don't they make a nice couple?

Introducing Florence our new Kune Kune Piglet

This is our first photograph of Florence who arrived yesterday,

she is a 15 week old Kune Kune with slightly wavy hair. She is destined to be Hugo's wife when she has grown up.
Was it love at first sight?
What do you think?

Pig's Breakfast

Sow and weaner meal mixed with warm water is I suppose a bit like Ready Brek for pigs, anyway as you can see Albert and Lucy the miniature micro pigs are really enjoying their breakfast.

It was followed by copious amounts of apples and carrots so all in all I'd say that the little pet pigs start their day with a very healthy breakfast.
